Cuilan's Input...

Let's talk about the Tor Castle Project...Currently, we are in the process of fundraising for this important Early Medieval Structure. A GoFundMe page has been established and is to be launched this weekend. The fundraiser's title is-Save Tor Castle: Preserve Scottish Heritage. The Tor Castle Project's main purpose is to save what remains of a crumbling structure in the Scottish Highlands. Tor Castle is an early Medieval scheduled monument (SM5471) located in Banavie, Scotland with Banquo's Walk, which is not a scheduled monument, a short distance away. Over a thousand years of history relates to this structure and landscape. First, with Clan Chattan and then with Clan Cameron, as well as being featured in William Shakespeare's MACBETH, as the stronghold of General Banquo. Currently, all that remains is the crumbling remains of one tower, which is just a few meters above ground and some extremely short sections of wall. Lidar imaging is needed to confirm the actual subsurface footprint of this structure, the Iron Age stronghold underneath, and the connecting ceremonial approach. This imaging is necessary, as it defines the next step for the future preservation of this extremely important historical, literary and legendary structure.
